My Dreams And My family’s lagecy is the biggest influence on me.
Who are the biggest influences in your life?
In your teens, you dream about different people and things that you can become and things you want to own. Teens is about “ME”. In my teens all I wanted, was to become a great psychologist and help all the people in need. I was turning my dreams into actions as well, just not intentionally like a focused Ivy league student does. I use to read all the novels and books that caught my interest, I would find answers to all the questions that use to pop in my mind. and after college time, I would volunteer in social causes like teaching underprivileged children. assisting NGOs in old age homes. Volunteering with psychiatrist. I was all over my city for social work. and in retrospect I just did all this out of an innate drive. You will not find the mention of these things even in my resume.
My dreams they REALLY DID AND DO INFLUENCE MY CHOICE AND DECISIONS IN LIFE. AND I WOULDN’T CHANGE THAT.
Now, once I grew out of teens. I remember stories of my grandfather’s contribution in freedom struggle of India. Stories of how my father single handedly created a monolopy business in Textile sector in the Gujarat state of India. Also the stories of my ancestors from my mother’s side, how they struggled to preserve their land and family members in 1900s . In my maiden home town my maiden name holds quite a reputation. So, when my dad passed away, till then I didn’t think about legacy or preserving his legacy. But after that moment, the decisions that I started making and choice I started taking they were influenced by the foundation of Guptas. We are not perfect in any sense. But somethings are pretty sanguine.
